MUEBLES VINTAGE: EL ÚNICO ESTILO QUE NUNCA PASA DE MODA

Vintage style for your home, much more than a matter of taste

The word vintage has been on trend for a long time. It can refer to different aspects of beauty, ways of being, writing or speaking, or even to decorating or dressing. Vintage: "It is said of a style of clothing, furniture, etc. that recovers or imitates fashionable models, fabrics, etc. from past eras: a vintage enthusiast; a vintage-style shirt..."

The trend of decorating in vintage style has been going on for decades and is combined with a particular retro, chic, and refined taste. To decorate with truly vintage pieces, those from other eras, you would need to have a well-stocked wallet.

What is vintage taste

But vintage is a style that goes beyond a simple taste for beauty and antiques. It's not just pure antiquity or modernity, but rather the contemporary reimagining of past fashion, details, and trends.

Vintage manages to bring back forgotten items, outdated styles, and forgotten shapes and colors. It's not just a passion and knowledge of the old, it's a way of reinterpreting an old reality in a completely new way, skillfully combining it with contemporary styles and objects.

The final effect of vintage decor is something innovative and refined, something never seen before but with a skillful antique touch: an elaborate, creative, and beautiful detail in any field, whether it's clothing, a hairstyle, or a piece of furniture for the home.

Tips for decorating your home with pure vintage class

In our home decor guides, we have suggested how to decorate in minimal style, how to decorate a home or office in industrial style, and how to choose furniture and objects in pure ethnic style. Today, we recommend how to decorate with vintage and retro taste.

The starting point could be to recover some objects from thrift markets or from old relatives. But if you don't have these opportunities or can't find what suits you, you can choose from the many contemporary and new objects and furniture specifically created to give your decor that vintage effect.

The first tip is to clearly decide which time period you want to evoke with your decor. The 50s? The 70s? The 20s?

Each era has its own guidelines.

How to decorate in the 50s style

To create a 50s effect, for example, choose curved and rounded lines, bold and intense colors (yellow, red, blue).

Another idea is to adorn your walls with posters and paintings, perhaps choosing Old Style advertisements, such as those from Coca Cola.

Alternatively, you can select adorable retro objects, such as the vintage toaster by Ariete: functional, beautiful, and distinctively original and characteristic.

How to decorate in the 70s style

If you want to be inspired by the magical 70s, you could opt for the use of wallpaper in one or more rooms of your home.

Alternatively, if you don't like wallpaper, you can choose paintings with geometric and psychedelic patterns.

These same patterns should be repeated in the choice of upholstery, from sofas to cushions to curtains, and in the home linens, where repeated geometric shapes and flowers in a pure hippie style should dominate.

Carpets are also essential to bring back the 70s, as well as a velvet sofa, which is ideal for the living room.

To decorate according to the guidelines of the roaring 20s, choose elegant and severe shapes that convey luxury and recklessness. Curved leather sofas, lacquered and glossy wardrobes in white or black, and thick curtains in intense colors.

Other slightly kitschy items should not be missing, such as furry pillows, fringed carpets, imposing vases, statues, and busts. It's a somewhat demanding style but with a truly chic effect.

The colors of the decor style

The number one rule is to define the style you want to evoke in order to create a certain harmony between the furniture and the accessories used without creating confusion.

Another essential rule is to follow some guidelines regarding wall colors. Here are some decorating tips in this regard:

  1. 1920s: a palette of neutral colors, with white and black as preferred shades combined with softer colors;
  2. 1950s: a palette of pastel colors, such as mint green, pink, apricot, cream, or Tiffany blue, works perfectly;
  3. 1970s: a palette of vibrant colors, such as orange, fuchsia, color block, but also animal prints and optical patterns throughout.
